Instructions and Help about Unemployability 21 8940 needed and 4192 s requested

Hello and welcome to the Hill and Ponton video blog. I'm Matthew Hill and I'm Carol Ponton. Today, we want to talk about a question we get all the time, and it doesn't seem like there's much information out there about it. The question is: what is the difference between 100% and individual unemployability? So, 100% is when you add up all of your VA ratings using VA math, and it totals to 100%. Let me explain how the VA math works. If you have a 60% rating, it means that only 40% of your body is considered unaffected. So, if you receive another rating, let's say 20%, you don't add 20 to 60. Instead, you calculate 20% of the remaining 40%, which is 8%. This gives you an additional rating of 10%, not 20%. Essentially, the closer you get to 100%, the harder it is to increase your rating. For example, if you have a 90% rating, you would need another 50% rating to reach 100%. It's really difficult to achieve, but not impossible. If you're trying to determine your ratings, we have a disability rating calculator on our website under VA law. Feel free to check it out. Now, let's talk about individual unemployability. It is similar to the 100% rating, with one key difference. In order to qualify for individual unemployability, you must not be working due to a service-connected problem. Additionally, you should have one rating of 60% or more, or a combined rating of 70% or more (with one rating being at least 40%). If you meet these criteria, the VA will consider whether you are 100% disabled due to your service-connected problems. You will receive the same benefits as someone with a 100% rating, but the catch is that you cannot work. Every year, the VA will send...
